Did you manage to acquire the early access?
Last week, we highlighted the release of Path of Exile 2 for Xbox and how it is set to become a free-to-play game eventually, but for now, it launched as an early access title. It seems that this early access release has become extremely popular!
When we look at the UK and US ‘Top Paid’ charts on the Xbox Store, Path of Exile is currently sitting at #4 in the UK and #2 in the US, alongside titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and the heavily discounted Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. In other words, it is clearly selling well on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S at the moment.
It certainly helps that the game has been receiving positive feedback as well. Although there isn’t a Metacritic score yet, the reviews have generally been favorable so far, while the Steam rating is “Very Positive” based on over 40,000 reviews. Path of Exile 2 also holds a 4/5 rating on the Xbox Store, which can be notoriously challenging for major games to achieve.
IGN (8/10): “Everything from the refined core action-RPG gameplay to the surprisingly well-developed endgame has seen significant improvements, and the portion of the story we’ve experienced so far shows great potential, even if the setting feels somewhat generic in the realm of dark fantasy worlds.”
If you’re interested in trying out Path of Exile 2 in early access, the most affordable way to do so is through the “Early Access Supporter Packs” available on the Xbox Store for £24.99 / $29.99. As noted, the game will eventually transition to free-to-play, but that seems unlikely to occur until at least the middle of 2025.
We’ll share more essential information about the game below along with some screenshots, but we’re also eager to hear your thoughts on Path of Exile 2 thus far. Is it worth purchasing at that price, or should Xbox enthusiasts hold off until the free-to-play launch?
“Path of Exile 2 is a next-gen free-to-play Action RPG developed by Grinding Gear Games. Explore the perilous continent of Wraeclast, encountering varied immersive cultures while battling evil in its many forms.”
