8BitDo is expanding its range of Nintendo Switch controllers with a second-generation version of its budget-friendly Ultimate C Bluetooth Controller. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth Controller, much like the PC version that debuted earlier this year, incorporates Hall Effect sticks into an already popular affordable gamepad. The Ultimate 2C Bluetooth Controller for Nintendo Switch is available now for $30 in light blue and purple varieties.

The standard Ultimate C Switch Controller has been our favorite pick under $30 since its release. If you gifted a Nintendo Switch and are still in need of extra controllers for multiplayer fun, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth Controller should be on your list.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C’s Hall Effect analog sticks are crafted to eliminate drift, while its metal rings help minimize wear. Hall Effect sticks generally provide a smoother experience compared to standard analog sticks.

Unlike 8BitDo’s premium Ultimate Bluetooth Controller, the 2C, and the C series at large, do not feature back buttons. Instead, it includes an additional pair of remappable shoulder bumpers. These inputs can be remapped on the fly, which is a nice feature; however, you miss out on the extensive customization options found in the…
“`commonplace Closing, as it is not well-suited with 8BitDo’s mobile and desktop applications.

The Closing 2C does feature integrated rumble, 6-axis motion controls, and a turbo button. It also includes a “wake-on-shake” function, allowing you to reactivate it with a slight shake. While Amazon’s listing does not specify the battery lifespan, the Closing C provided 16 hours of gameplay on a single charge.

Although we have not yet evaluated the Closing 2C Bluetooth model, we have previously used the Closing C Bluetooth and the Closing 2C 2.4GHz Wireless. 8BitDo’s C series controllers deliver excellent ergonomics, impressive feel, and overall performance; we would be surprised if the Closing 2C Bluetooth did not maintain that standard.

The latest Closing C seems to be on its way out, but the purple model is available for only $24 (was $30) on Amazon.

The Closing 2C is 8BitDo’s budget-friendly Switch controller, but the flagship Closing Bluetooth Controller is not at all expensive. Our preferred third-party Switch controller–and our top choice for PC controllers–the 8BitDo Closing Bluetooth Controller includes a wealth of enhancements. Most significantly, it features two customizable back triggers and supports 8BitDo’s Closing Software, which can be utilized to create three custom profiles, remap commands, and modify settings for analog and trigger sensitivity as well as rumble intensity.

The 8BitDo Closing also comes with a compatible charging dock that contains a 2.4GHz USB adapter for wireless operation on PC and Mac. Battery life has also improved, allowing for up to 22 hours of gameplay on a single charge.

It is currently priced at $50 on Amazon in both white and black. However, you can find an 8BitDo Closing Bluetooth Controller bundle with a hardshell carrying case for just $53. 8BitDo’s carrying case typically retails for $20.

8BitDo Closing PC Controller Offers

If you desire all of these features without Switch compatibility, the 8BitDo Closing 2.4GHz is available for $50. It comes in four colors, but onlythe white mannequin is discounted by 10% immediately. There might be a Genshin Impact-themed version for $54 (originally $60). Speaking of themed 8BitDo controllers, the Dark Fantasy: Wukong edition Closing 2C remains available at Amazon for $35.

You can also save $20 on 8BitDo’s Closing 3-Mode Controller, officially licensed by Xbox. Unfortunately, it only functions with a wired connection on Xbox, but it can work wirelessly on PC through the 2.4GHz adapter and via Bluetooth on Android.

Recently, 8BitDo unveiled an officially licensed accessibility controller for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The 8BitDo Lite SE 2.4GHz Wireless Controller replaces triggers and bumpers with four additional face buttons. It is priced at $54 (was $60 at Amazon) and only $45 at Amazon-owned store Woot.

In January, 8BitDo will expand its retro mechanical keyboard collection with a translucent green model that is officially licensed by Xbox. The keyboard matches the iconic green design of the original Xbox console. A wireless mouse featuring the same attractive design will launch on the same day. You can preorder 8BitDo’s Xbox-themed keyboard and mouse at Amazon before their release on January 16.
