Shadowy Ops 6 Fans Voice Discontent Over Controversial DLC Skins

“I’ve been enjoying Black Ops 6 up to now but…”

Since the Fortnite craze, a growing number of online shooters have introduced cosmetic microtransactions. Even the combat-centered title Call of Duty has drawn inspiration from this trend over the years. While the series has incorporated various bizarre cosmetics in previous installments, the latest skins in Black Ops 6 are certainly among the most talked about.

In light of a recent wave of themed skins, it appears the Black Ops 6 community has begun to express skepticism about their presence. Players are urging the developers to consider scaling back these skins and instead focus more on gameplay and any current issues in multiplayer mode.

One user on the Xbox subreddit labeled these skins as “annoying,” even suggesting they would be willing to pay for an option to turn them off entirely.

“Please Activision – if you won’t provide us with a way to manually disable these eyesores, I would literally pay for it. Name your price, I got this game for free (thanks, Xbox), so I’d happily pay a fair amount just to enjoy a military shooter that actually looks like military combat.”

However, the reaction to these new skins isn’t an isolated incident. Many Call of Duty fans on social media are voicing similar concerns, although it appears there’s an acceptance that not much usually gets done in response to these grievances.

It’s worth noting that the game is only a month old, and there are indeed several areas that require attention, such as the game’s anti-cheat system:

Although there is a segment of the community that may not be as excited about the cosmetics now present in Black Ops 6, it doesn’t seem to be diminishing the popularity of the new installment. Activision announced earlier this week that it has had the largest launch month ever for a Call of Duty game, with record numbers in players, hours played, and matches completed.

What are your thoughts on online shooters like Call of Duty featuring various character DLC? Would you prefer to see it reduced? Share your opinions in the comments.
