It seems that this wasn’t accurate for the LEGO project

Update[Sat 30th Nov 2024, 1pm]: A substantial “completed trailer” for the LEGO James Bond game developed by TT Games has now been posted. It was reportedly codenamed “Project Gold” (thanks to The LEGO Video Game Museum on X):

Standard Note: The LEGO video games have explored various intellectual properties over the years, but one initiative that never saw the light of day was a James Bond installment.

At one point, TT Games was independently developing a brick-centric spin-off of the 007 franchise, and now images of this proposal have emerged online. It showcases the famous agent in numerous iconic scenes battling characters like Oddjob and Jaws, driving a wide variety of vehicles and using all kinds of gadgets.

Ultimately, The LEGO Group did not find the intellectual property to be “appropriate” for a LEGO game, leading to the cancellation of the effort to bring this series into the brick universe. Although this footage was discovered in connection with LEGO Dimensions, it appears to have been intended for a standalone project.

Even though it seems that 007 may have missed out on a LEGO video game, LEGO actually released a new game earlier this month in the form of LEGO Horizon Adventures. We rated it 6 out of 10, describing it as a “pretty yet basic rendition of Sony’s series”.

If you’re still in search of a LEGO or James Bond experience, you can always revisit GoldenEye 007 through the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, or check our LEGO game directory, which features intellectual properties like Star Wars, Marvel, and current LEGO titles.
