Elgato’s Ultimate System: A Stylish Upgrade for Dusky Friday Enthusiasts
Earlier this year, there was a period when the Elgato Prompter was nearly impossible to find. It was so popular upon its release that I couldn’t even get my hands on a review unit because they were perpetually backordered. With such a highly desired item that lacks genuine competition, I really didn’t anticipate it getting discounted this Black Friday.
Oh, how mistaken I was, as this unique device has actually seen an $80 price cut, dropping from its original $279.99 launch price to $199.99 at Amazon.. Before I say anything further, let me remind you that this is a product that flew off the shelves during the first half of this year, so if you find yourself wanting one, I wouldn’t hesitate. The Corsair and Elgato teams have graciously given us a Black Friday deal, so act quickly.
Aside from a few bundle deals appearing among Black Friday gaming discounts in recent weeks, I have not noticed the Elgato Prompter drop in price since its debut. If it has, any price reductions were brief and minor enough that no one really noticed. Just so you’re aware, this is the lowest the Prompter has ever offered, although there are some bundles you might want to look into if you’re missing a stand for it, or if you’d like a small keylight to place on top.
Should You Purchase the Elgato Prompter?
More generally, the Prompter has various applications. If you haven’t set it up within the Elgato Camera Hub, it acts as a compact display. I found this useful for keeping a Spotify window open while I worked, or when I was video editing, maintaining an active file window so I could conveniently drag and drop media onto my timeline. Just remember that it connects to your PC or laptop using a USB-C cable, so if your device already struggles, this could potentially slow you down further.
I also recommend the Elgato prompter for its adaptability with different cameras. It includes a variety of lens rings, which means that if you’re using some of the top-notch webcams or a high-end DSLR, it should integrate seamlessly with the rest of your streaming setup.
I would typically recommend this to a creator who has some budget flexibility and who wants to elevate their production capabilities, but honestly, given this great price, I would also recommend it to those just starting their content creation journeys.
