Unlocking Storage Solutions: The Best PS5 SSDs to Enhance Your Gaming Experience This Black Friday

I may possess irritating aspects, but every time I acquire a brand new game that I am so eager to experience, nothing frustrates me more than the PS5 notifying me that I am out of storage space. “Why does your operating system take up some of my internal storage—why don’t you delete something?” I’ll exclaim at my television.

Fortunately, I have the pleasure of testing PS5 SSDs for a living, so that scenario happens less frequently nowadays, which is likely a good thing to prevent my neighbors from hearing me and thinking I’m losing my mind. This Black Friday, I’m going to make your life easier and share the easy-to-install, no fuss required, quick and substantial SSD deals you’ll want for the PS5. I’ll start with my favorite of the year, Corsair’s MP600 Elite, which is currently available for just $79.99 at Amazon.

This Black Friday PS5 SSD deal is probably the first I’ll recommend because it’s one of the most low-maintenance drives I’ve ever used. Its 1TB version has been at this price for some time, but that’s no bad thing, as all the others have been trying to match a price this low. For a 1TB drive, this is all you could possibly need—just remove your console’s faceplate, insert this, and you should be good to go.

For many gamers, 1TB will likely be more than enough space to start hoarding games like a dragon and not run out of storage. However, if you play a few titles that have abnormally large install sizes, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Call of Duty, or even Baldur’s Gate 3, you will quickly find that 1TB SSD for PS5 fills up fast.

If you wish to level up and purchase a 2TB drive, you’re in luck, as they are some of the best price Black Friday SSD deals available this year. Again, for a total lack of hassle, I’d suggest the WD Black SN850X, since its heatsink model (designed for PS5) is down to $133 at Amazon.

I would not recommend an 8TB drive for PS5 users, even though the console can now accommodate SSDs of that size. You likely will not utilize that much space—last year I checked how many terabytes the entire Game Pass library would consume, and it was around 11TB in total. For PS5 gamers, the entire PS Plus collection would likely add up to less than that, so it wouldn’t be worth spending the money on an 8TB model.

However, 4TB drives are becoming increasingly viable because, during major sales events like Black Friday, they get much more affordable. Take the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB, for example, which may not be sitting at its lowest-ever price but is available for a reasonable $269 at Amazon. That gives you so much room to work with, and could potentially last you throughout the remainder of the PS5’s life before you’ll need to consider deleting another game.

This one comes without a heatsink, so it’s not quite as hassle-free as the other options on this list. But the competing 4TB models with heatsinks are significantly more

Expensive, this is certainly your best estimation if you happen to intend to travel far or return home. All you need to do is pick up one of the essential PS5 heatsinks to keep it cool, and most typically retail for under $20.

One of my earliest memories is playing Super Mario 64 and wondering why the controller I held had three grips, even though I only had two hands. Ever since that moment, I have been passionate about video games and their technology. After finishing my degree in Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University, I contributed to the Scottish Games Network and completed an Editorial Internship at Expert Reviews. Over the past ten years, I have managed my own YouTube channel, sharing my passion for gaming as well.
