*Prods* … create something

Nintendo has unveiled an immediate animation based on The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, showcasing the game’s fundamental ‘echo’ feature that allows players to summon duplicates of items to access otherwise unreachable areas.

It successfully demonstrates the gameplay, but oh my, it is exceedingly tedious. Zelda spots a treasure chest perched on top of a tree, so she uses Tri to create echoes of a nearby table and crate to reach it. She succeeds, opens the chest, and retrieves a red rupee.

That’s all, folks. We were kind of expecting something amusing or unexpected to occur. Perhaps a Trace Guy jumps out of the chest, or maybe the chest devours Zelda like the Mimic foes from Dark Souls. Really… anything.

Unfortunately, while the animation is aesthetically pleasing and delightful, the video is otherwise quite disappointing. Thankfully, the actual game is much more enjoyable. Set to launch on September 26, 2024, Echoes of Wisdom continues the visual charm from Link’s Awakening on Switch, but features a significantly larger overworld, new mechanics, and marks the first occasion where Zelda herself takes on the role of the main protagonist in a core installment.

We rated the game a score of 9/10 and referred to it as “the new benchmark for top-down Zelda titles moving forward”.
