The Switch has broken multiple records; however, one achievement it has yet to accomplish is surpassing the total sales of the PlayStation 2.
At one time, it was anticipated that the hybrid console would need to sell an additional 15 million units to reach this target, but PlayStation’s former CEO Jim Ryan shattered this assumption earlier this year, stating that the PS2’s lifetime sales were officially noted as 160 million units.
Now, in a formal update on PlayStation’s 30th anniversary webpage, Sony has officially confirmed that the console has sold “over” 160 million units since its release in 2000:
