The upcoming season of Pokémon Go is titled Dual Future and is set to commence next week on Tuesday, December 3rd.
Its branding features a prominent black and white theme, which should not be surprising considering that Pokémon Black and White’s Unova region is the next area to be highlighted in the game’s Tour event series. Dual Future will conclude on March 4th, around the same time we would anticipate the Unova Tour to take place.
But why “Dual Future”? In a media conference, Niantic explained that the title was intended to reflect “opposites coming together to enhance one another and celebrate the two facets of a whole,” which is quite appealing.
Regarding content, some of the new features will likely be announced in the coming days, but for now, the notable highlight is the early arrival of the teacup Pokémon Sinistea. This aligns perfectly with the Dual Future theme as it has two distinct forms – Antique and Phony – depending on whether it has a hint of authenticity. (Shouldn’t it have been named Authencitea?)
When introduced, Sinistea – a Ghost-type Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield – appears as a slightly cracked teacup. Its Pokédex entry states: “The soul of someone who died alone possessed some leftover tea.” It evolves into Polteageist.
