FromSoftware and its parent company Spike Chunsoft, Kadokawa, has confirmed that Sony has sent a letter of intent regarding the acquisition of the firm’s shares, but clarified that “no determination has been made at this moment.”

This statement was initially published on the company’s website, and is signed by CEO Takeshi Natsuno, following a report by Reuters earlier this week that Sony was in discussions to acquire Kadokawa.

“There are various articles regarding the purchase of Kadokawa Corporation (hereafter ‘the Company’) by Sony Group Inc,” the announcement stated. “However, this information has not been officially disclosed by the company. The company has received an initial letter of intent to purchase the firm’s shares, but no decision is finalized at this time. Should there be any details that require announcement in the future, we will provide an update in a timely and proper manner.”

Reuters reported the day prior that acquisition discussions have been ongoing between the two firms, based on information from two confidential sources.
