Un-bee-lievable

If, at any point during the exhausting 2010s, you had been longing for a new Paper Mario game, you might have coincidentally discovered Moonsprout Games’ Worm Fables: The Everlasting Sapling, a charming RPG inspired by paper, based on turn mechanics. It arrived on Switch six months after its PC debut (in May 2020), and has gained popularity.
However, five years following its PC launch, Moonsprout Games has unexpectedly released a delightful update for the game. What a surprise!
Over at Steam, Moonsprout has detailed all the new features, which will also be accessible on Switch. There is a new post-game boss battle for those seeking a real challenge, 11 new medals including a unique medal allowing you to collaborate with allies, a fresh music video display, and an all-new fishing minigame.
Additionally, there are several quality-of-life improvements – Vi’s boomerang can now target the nearest 8 cardinal directions, droplets now have a grace period so you can freeze objects more easily, and quite a few minor bugs (haaa…) and language corrections have been addressed.
Worm Fables is available on the Switch eShop right now. A physical edition was released through Limited Run Games, but it’s currently out of stock, so you may need to hunt it down second-hand. It’s worth it – we rated it an 8/10 back in 2020.
