“The island requires a bit more preparation time”

We have been keeping a close watch on Amber Isle, the Animal Crossing-inspired life simulator from Ambertail Games, for quite some time now. This title was initially set to release on Switch in late October but faced a last-minute postponement to November. Now, the developer has announced yet another delay, with the new launch date pushed to February 2025.
A delay like this is not something we enjoy witnessing, yet in the statement provided, the developer expressed that the Switch version is not yet satisfactory: “the island needs a bit more preparation time before we’re ready to open our ports and welcome you all ashore”. We would always prefer a delay over a launch filled with bugs.
Ambertail and Team17 shared their statement on social media last week, accompanied by a fresh Switch trailer (above) released earlier today. You can find the full message from the developer and the original social media post below:
Hello everyone! We understand you have been patiently awaiting Amber Isle’s Nintendo Switch release, and we sincerely regret to inform you that we are extending the delay on our Switch port until February 2025.
Witnessing the excitement surrounding the Switch release has made this a truly difficult decision. Our team has been diligently working to resolve the bugs from our Steam release while making significant progress to elevate our Switch version to a high standard of performance, but the island requires a bit more preparation time before we can launch our ports and welcome you ashore!
Upon release in February 2025, our Nintendo Switch version will include all previous patches and updates from the Steam version! Moreover, if you don’t want to wait and are able to play Amber Isle on Steam, we’re part of the Team17 Fall Savings and Steam Autumn Sale, allowing you to purchase Amber Isle at a discounted price.
Our community has been incredibly supportive and patient with us regarding delays and bugs, and we genuinely appreciate your understanding. Overall, we would hate to disappoint you with your first Switch experience of Amber Isle filled with performance issues, instead of truly enjoying our friendly dinosaurs!
