I was a newcomer to the Splatoon franchise. If you had asked me three years ago what my favorite Turf Battle arena was, the forty-five minutes I had spent playing Splatoon 2 might have given me a shaky response of “the boat one,” and that’s only if I was actually thinking clearly. The Inklings unnerved me, the motion controls made me feel lightheaded, and everything was just too fast for my small brain to process. But then Splatoon 3 came along and captured my heart.
